For dessert, we had glazed donuts bites, caramel apple bites, and Bavarian cinnamon roasted almonds (first time I've made those too and they were perfect!! Just like the ones I remember buying off the streets in Munich and have paid outrageously for at Oktoberfests). :)
I was very happy with how it all turned out. It all tasted sooo good (to me at least)! Then we carved pumpkins afterward. And then I wanted to dig out my authentic german oompa-band cassette tape and teach all the kids how to polka . . . but it got too late (darn!).
Halloween night. Elisabeth dressed up in the clown costume I wore when I was little (that my mom sewed! Abigail also wore it one year).
Samuel was Clifford the Big Red Dog (again). But by the time he got home from school he was running a fever and spent the rest of the day on the couch so he didn't actually go out trick-or-treating. We just made him sit and pose for all the pictures. He was a really good sport about it all.
Isaac was . . . well, we don't really know for sure. He was in disguise. And for wearing such a great disguise he won an award for the best costume for his class!! haha. It made us all laugh since he didn't even really know what he was "dressed up as." Whatever it was, I guess it worked.
And, after digging out my German clothes after our Oktoberfest, Abigail decided to be a "German Girl." Someone had given me this outfit in Germany and, even though it was a tight fit for me back then, I'm still amazed that she is big enough to wear it now (or equally amazed that I was really that skinny back then at age 21!).

The food looks yummy and the kids look great! You need to give me the recipe for the almonds!
I cannot believe that clown costume is really that small! I totally remember wearing it as a kid. Love that you are giving it new life with your little ones. :)
Also, I am glad that you take your kids trick-or-treating. Every time I move I think maybe this year we will get trick-or-treaters. There are definitely a lot of families around here. But still we got one small group and that was it. I wanted to see some cute kids! Total bummer. :(
So, um, the brotchen. Recipe....?
recipes post coming soon!:)
The meal looks tasty.
I so love that clown costume and that you wore it as a kid. Too cute.
